BUSINESS ROUND UP
Here's to your health
HEALTHCARE giant Cigna has decided to launch an in-world presence to promote better living.
The project is only a pilot but ambitious plans include seminars, displays and educational games which will encourage people to be aware of their health.
However a senior figure at Cigna admitted that it was not clear just how the company would try to make money from the investment.
Peter Mills, chief medical officer in the Vielife Division, said it was possible the online community will be offered as an additional benefit to members who have health plans already.
But the company also hopes to offer virtual consultations to attract new customers in the future.
The Saint is coming
French manufacturer Saint Gobain has partnered with Stonfield InWorld to create a presence in Second Life.
The company uses mirrors and glass to construct items and is involved in the virtual world to help test ecological products.
The project begins in September but the presence can already be seen here in-world.
A teeny bopper
Linden Lab CEO M Linden addressed the teen grid as part of the SL5B celebrations.
M commented about how much great work was done on the teen grid and spoke about the involvement of organisations such as Global Kids in Second Life.
Blue Linden then moderated a question and answer session which can be read in full here.
